We found a cool tool for creating short-form audio content on Facebook. It's easy to use, allows you to create content in seconds, and it can be a great way for new people to discover your. This tool is called Facebook Soundbites!

What are Facebook Soundbites

Soundbites are short-form audio content of 5 minutes or less. Think of them as mini podcasts or short stories. Facebook created them to provide audio experiences on Facebook, likely to compete with the popularity of Clubhouse at that time.

In a matter of seconds, you can use the Facebook mobile app to produce quality audio content with background music and sound effects — even if you're in a loud room or on a busy street corner.

We're incorporating Soundbites in our marketing strategy to support brand discovery with new audiences. Since the feature is fairly new and only available in the U.S., now is a great time to reap the benefits of being an early-adopter. For example, the hashtag #entrepreneurlife has 16 search results, meaning any content I create using that hashtag is only competing with 16 other posts. That same hashtag on Instagram has over 20 million search results!

In the video below, we'll show you how it works.

How to Create Facebook Soundbites

Picture
In order to create a Soundbite, you have to use the Facebook app from your mobile phone. You can't access it from a laptop, desktop computer or tablet.
  1. Make sure you're on the "Home" tab of the Facebook app.
  2. Tap "Watch"
  3. Across the top of the screen, tap the "Audio" tab.
  4. Scroll down. until you see a section titled, "Soundbites"
  5. Click "Create" to record your own Soundbite or browse Soundbites from other people to get ideas.

A few things to note:
  • After you record a Soundbite, you'll tap "Next" to choose from pre-loaded background music and sound effects.
  • You can share your Soundbite using the share icon, but after sharing to my personal profile and a Facebook group, I noticed the content appeared blocked. I'm not sure what's causing it.
  • For now, we're using this to reach an audience who may not be familiar with us. It doesn't seem easy to share with your existing audience.

Since this feature is new'ish. My suggestion is to try it out.

Start thinking of ways to use Facebook Soundbites in your business. If you're an author, consider reading parts of your book. If you're a consultant, share tips to demonstrate your expertise. Tell short stories about experiences you've had, make it entertaining. Most importantly, have fun and become familiar with the tool. If it takes off, you'll be ahead of the game.
